Joe Akers is the adviser for Noblesville High School's award-winning Mill Stream newspaper and NHS News broadcasting programs. He earned a B.A. in Telecommunications/Broadcast Journalism, a B.A. in Education and an M.A. in Journalism from Indiana University. He was recently named the 2024 Indiana High School Press Association's Indiana Student Media Adviser of the Year. In 2019, he was chosen the state Adviser of the Year by the Women's Press Club of Indiana and the national Adviser of the Year by the National Federation of Press Women. He is teaching Intro to Photography for HSJI this year. You can view his photography work at joeakers.net.
