Head Counselor
Martha Abraham is a rising senior studying Media Advertising with a minor in Arts Management. She hopes to build a career in marketing and communications within an arts organization, and this summer she is interning at the Eskenazi Museum of Art on campus. Outside the classroom, Martha serves as the Director of Canvas Creative Arts for Union Board, the largest student programming organization on campus. She is excited to be part of HSJI this summer!

Elijah Ace is an aspiring transfer student from Ivy Tech and is from Gary, Indiana. He has an associate degree in Computer Science and is currently majoring in the Cinematic Arts BFA with a minor in Fine/Studio Arts. He enjoys creating and working with a camera and animation, but when he's not working in those fields, he enjoys a good walk with some music. He is excited to see what the HSJI has in store for him this summer.

Noah Boudouris is a rising sophomore from Indianapolis, Indiana, who is currently studying Sports Media. Outside of the classroom, He is a sports beat reporter for the Indiana Daily Student, as well as a play-by-play broadcaster and sideline reporter for WIUX radio. This summer, Noah is broadcasting basketball for The City League in Indianapolis and is working with HSJI for the first time.

Ava Campbell is a rising sophomore from Indianapolis, Indiana. She is majoring in Journalism with a concentration in News Reporting and Editing. As a transfer student, she found that coming to IU last semester was a great choice and has spent her time so far learning new design skills and attending Women in Media (WiM) club meetings. Outside of school, she spends her free time watching musicals, reading, and biking. Having attended HSJI as a rising high school senior, she is so excited to come back and work with this year's students!

Ben Cowles loves storytelling, no matter the form. Whether it's in photography, videography, or graphic design, he loves sinking his teeth into how to best showcase his message. The most important thing he has learned in his time in the military is the importance of hard work, and he would love the opportunity to show that!

Zackary Emge is a rising sophomore majoring in Secondary Education - Math and double minoring in Sociology and Psychology. Zack is passionate about becoming an educator and volunteering in his community. When not busy with his schoolwork, Zack likes to read, go to the gym, and listen to music. This will be Zack’s first time with HSJI, and he is very excited to work it.

Ele Engelmann studies biology as a junior on a pre-med track, focused on the intricate design of biological life. Engelmann is a member of the D1 Calamity Janes Ultimate Frisbee team for IU, and spends free time on campus enjoying nature and creating art. Ele took the Leadership Development workshop when she attended HSJI in 2023.

Tristan Farris is a rising sophomore from Bloomington, Indiana, who is studying Secondary Education with a focus on History/Social Studies. Outside of school, she enjoys sports such as CrossFit and Gymnastics, singing, crocheting, and more! She is super excited to get to know the HSJI program and the students involved this summer!

Sammie Haden is a rising sophomore majoring in Journalism with a minor in Law and Public Policy. She is from Louisville, Kentucky and is involved with PRSSA and Women in Media at Indiana University. In her free time, Sammie enjoys journaling, spending time with friends and watching movies. She is so excited to work at HSJI this summer!

Theo Hawkins is a recent graduate of the IU Media School. They worked at the IDS for several years as a designer and writer and served as the editor-in-chief of the 2025-26 Arbutus Yearbook. Off-the-clock, Theo enjoys creative writing, various fiber arts, playing music and bothering their cats, Kopi and Microwave.

MJ Johnson is a rising sophomore studying Film, Television, and Digital Production. Outside of his academics, he is an independent artist, filmmaker, and producer. When MJ isn’t on set or working on music, he enjoys spending time with friends, skiing in the winter, and working. During his time with Hamilton Southeastern High School’s student media program, he won Broadcaster of the Year and was inducted into the Quill and Scroll International High School Journalism Honors Society.

Alex Kutza just graduated with a major in Interactive & Digital Media and a second major in Biology. He spent a semester in Los Angeles, where he interned at a game design company. Before that, he was a student researcher and science writer in the Moyle Lab at IU. In his free time Alex enjoys playing video games, reading, and hiking. He’s excited to be helping out with the HSJI this summer!

Erin Lock is a rising sophomore at IU Bloomington majoring in Media with a concentration in Interactive and Digital Media. Erin was the Editor-In-Chief of the Hamilton Southeastern High School yearbook The Sceptre and was a team lead for a high school PR team. They are also involved in the Collins Living Learning Center's Board of Educational Programmers and plan on being a lab instructor for Fall 2026 school year. They like video games, board games, and deep dives into random internet topics.

Campbell Manahan is a sports media student at Indiana university. He is from Indianapolis, Indiana and loves the Indianapolis sports teams. He is eager to help out with the camp as he loves to help younger students find a passion in sports media as he has. Campbell is currently writing for Hoosier Huddle and Hoosier Network, while also having a live show on the Mic'd up app called Hoosier Weekly.

Gabe Morrison is a rising junior from Indianapolis, Indiana, majoring in Media Advertising. In addition to coursework, he is building experience in creative strategy, branding, and digital media. He enjoys joining various clubs and getting involved on campus, as well as reading and writing as creative outlets. Through these experiences, he continues to develop his communication and teamwork skills while exploring opportunities in the advertising industry.

Josie Neu is a rising senior from Fishers, Indiana, studying Sports Marketing & Management with minors in Marketing and Sports Media. She is an alum of HSJI and is excited to be back. She hopes to work in social media marketing for a collegiate or professional football team. Outside of school, she serves as Culture Chair for the Marketing Committee of IU Dance Marathon.

Rhea Patel is a rising junior studying Film, TV, and Digital Media Production with a minor in Creative Technologies in Art & Design. She has spent a number of years working in broadcast and photo journalism and has done social media work with the Indiana Daily Student for one semester. In her free time, Rhea enjoys playing guitar, creating art and spending time with her friends.

Emerson Romans is a rising sophomore from Indianapolis studying Media Advertising and English. In addition to her coursework, Emerson works on the marketing team at the Indiana Daily Student and participates in the Advertising Club. In her free time, Emerson loves reading, travelling, and spending time with her dog, Binx. As a former attendee, she is very excited to work at HSJI this summer!

Olivia Smith is a rising junior studying Sports Media from Avon, Indiana. She also works for The Media School's communications team as a photographer. Olivia is also part of The Hoosier Network and The Hoosier Huddle as a photographer, both sports media organizations that cover IU Athletics. This summer, she is completing an internship with Indiana Youth Services Association, a non-profit that aims to help youth and youth workers, as their communications and social media intern.
Gigi Welp is a rising junior studying Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Sports Marketing and Management from Carmel, Indiana. She does social media and is an on-screen personality for the Little 500 network, and she is involved in the Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism. She is excited to be a counselor at HSJI this summer!
Equipment Checkout and Office Assistant
Brenden Wood is a rising senior studying Game Design and Scoring for Visual Media. He has worked on 3 published games through the IU Game Design Capstone in a variety of roles such as music composition and game production. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time in nature and the outdoors as well as writing scripts and narratives for games.
