A self-proclaimed ‘jack of all trades’ Rin Diki balances her time between a plethora of different hobbies. From arts and crafts to content creation, Diki covers a wide range of skills and likes to try out new hobbies frequently.
When asked why she tries so many different things, Diki responded, ” I think it’s a combination of my indecisive personality and that I really just want to create my own path.”
One of the hobbies she feels most strongly about is creating content. This can be anything from her most recent hobby, video editing, to vlogs and yearbook design.
“I like content creation because I like challenging myself to be creative and produce something I can show to people. I like being able to express my creative side because I don’t feel like I can show that during school,” Diki said.
Yearbook is her biggest focus, of which she has been on the Southport High School staff for three years now. Diki started as a low-level staffer and worked her way up to the head position. She will be Editor-in-Chief of the Anchor this year, though that wasn’t part of her plans originally.
“I did it because my counselor recommended it, but I found myself really liking it because it challenged me to talk to people, which I struggle with as an introvert,” Diki said.
She describes herself as a creative leader and likes the elements of yearbook that involve leading the team and pushing them to be the best they can be.
“I love how many new people you get to meet, I love talking to people like me who sit in the back of the class and go unnoticed. As editor-in-chief I feel like I get to tell their stories, stories like mine.” Diki said.
Outside of yearbook, Diki volunteers as a leader at her family’s church, enjoys crocheting and crafting, and has movie nights with her family. A true jack of all trades, having so many different interests in life makes Diki the person she is today.
