Conquering the Comfort Zone
Emerson Zuranski puts herself out there so she can achieve her goals.
Not everyone is gifted with an extroverted personality, but when it comes naturally for someone it can bring benefits along with it. Luckily for Emerson Zuranski, a senior yearbook editor at Avon High School, her outgoing personality helps her pursue her passions. Zuranski has been a four year member of choir and a three year member of yearbook. While searching for a story or singing a song may seem vastly different on the surface, they actually both have one thing in common; they require Zuranski to step outside of her comfort zone.
As she approaches her final year of high school, one of Zuranski’s obstacles is taking on a new leadership role as editor in chief. Although Zuranksi already has a year as a section editor under her belt, her new position doesn’t come without new challenges, all of which Zuranski is prepared to face.
“I have a great group of section editors behind me and after being on the staff for two years I think I have what it takes to be a good editor,” Zuranksi said. Her ability to be outgoing also helps her out when she’s trying to cover a story, “it makes the interview feel less like an interrogation and more like a conversation,” she shared.
Furthermore, Zuranski was able to use her social personality to excel in other aspects of her life, such as choir. The ability to put her voice out there came with the need to be a little bit vulnerable.
“You just have to get outside of your comfort zone just enough,” Zuranski said.
Despite seeming different, both of Zuranksi’s interests are driven by her extroverted personality and willingness to put herself on the line.
